Forillon National Park
Conservation Objectives
To protect and present the natural and cultural heritage of the territory; and allow the public to learn about, appreciate, and enjoy this heritage in a manner ensuring its ecological and commemorative integrity.
Prohibitions
Hunting, trapping, disturbing wildlife, removing natural or cultural features, camping outside designated areas, excessive noise, and open fires outside designated fireplaces are all prohibited. Additionally, recreational drone use is prohibited, and there are restrictions on fishing and the use of personal watercraft.
The park is a representative portion of the natural region of the Notre-Dame and Mégantic mountains and the marine region of the Laurentian Channel. It aims to protect the area’s unique natural environments, various habitats, and species at risk. Moose are hyperabundant in the area, putting the state of medium-sized carnivore populations (fishers, American martens, foxes, lynx) at further risk.
