Protected Area Type:  Other marine or freshwater protected area
Conservation Objectives

To protect a representative natural area of Canadian significance within the Western Arctic Lowlands for all time. This includes preserving the park’s natural character, wildlife populations, and their habitats, as well as the integrity of its ecosystems and cultural resources.

Prohibitions

There are restrictions on removing or damaging natural and cultural items, allowing pets to roam freely, littering, and unauthorized use of firearms. Open fires are prohibited, as is the use of recreational drones. Additionally, fishing is restricted.

The park’s protection safeguards its Arctic Lowlands ecosystems, ensuring the survival of various plant and animal species, including muskoxen, Peary caribou, and numerous bird species. The park is also important for the Inuvialuit, who have a long history of inhabiting and using the area.
