Conservation Objectives

Kouchibouguac National Park was established in 1969 to preserve a section of the Canadian Maritime Plain region. The park includes barrier islands, sand dunes, lagoons, salt marshes, and forests.

Prohibitions

Importing firewood, feeding wildlife, and off-road vehicle use are all prohibited, and there are restrictions on certain boating activities and fishing practices.

Kouchibouguac National Park is protected to preserve its unique coastal and Acadian forest ecosystems, protect endangered species, and honor the cultural heritage of the area. It also serves as a Dark-Sky Preserve, protecting the night sky from light pollution.
