Hatton Basin Conservation Area

To preserve the habitat of a wide variety of arctic species, including coral, mammal, and seabird species. 

All bottom-contact fishing is prohibited in the area.

The area protects a variety of arctic species which rely on its marine habitat for feeding, spawning, and breeding. The area contains significant concentrations of corals, including black corals, stony corals and hydrocorals. It is home to fish and invertebrates like Greenland halibut and northern shrimp, and mammals such as narwhal and seals. There are also high densities of sea birds, such as the ivory gull (which is endangered).
