Ivvavik National Park
Conservation Objectives
The park protects a portion of the calving grounds of the Porcupine caribou herd and represents the Northern Yukon and Mackenzie Delta natural regions.
Prohibitions
Restrictions exist on removing or damaging natural objects, hunting or disturbing wildlife, possessing firearms (without proper transport), and operating drones within the park. Additionally, dogs are prohibited at the park’s base camp. Campfires are also not permitted, and all garbage must be packed out.
Ivvavik is a crucial part of the Porcupine caribou herd’s calving grounds, where the caribou give birth to their young. This area is vital for the herd’s survival and is a key resource for the Inuvialuit people.
